10.1 Berlin WebInstaller Internal Server Error - by: Eric Leijten

Today we started to upgrade our development environments to 10.1 Berlin version by using the new ESD installer.
However my direct partner could use this installer without any problems this method failed on my own PC. The main installer finnished without any issues and then the IDE starts up for the first time with the RAD Studio platform selection assistant. This is where things go wrong. The blue pop-up window only shows me a "internal server error" message while this part runs fine at my collegues PC.

We both have the same laptop having exactly the same OS and tools installed and also the same C++ Builder subscription license active. We also tried to continue with all firewalls turned off and using a direct internet connection instead of through a server but this also did not work.
Please can anyone from embt give some help here...

Does embarcadero support schema versioning ? - by: sqlBlr

I want to keep multiple versions of a single entity in physical model. In other words there will be only one entity in logical model which represents the latest version but will have more than one physical entities with different version. For example, When I initially create the model there is an entity “Customer” with 10 attributes in logical and the corresponding physical table “tblCustomerMaster” with all 10 columns. Later I added two extra attribute and removed one existing attribute in Customer entity on the Logical side. When I sync and merge the Logical with physical, I want to keep the original “tblCustomerMaster” as is and a new version of the physical table something like “tblCustomerMasterV2” with the 2 extra attribute added and the one old attribute removed. The idea is not to break the existing application which still uses the older version of the table and views or stored procedures that use the same table. Newer version of APIs will use the new table. I don’t find any way to do this in ER studio Data Architect. Can someone please help or suggest an alternate solution ?

Hi all...
In Delphi 10.1 Berlin, I can NOT pass a class instance marked as [unsafe] to routines expecting var type parametes

eg:

procedure Example;
var
[unsafe] AClass: TObject;
begin
Aclass := TObject.Create;

This causes the compilet to complain with [dcc32 Error] xxxx.pas(33): E2033 Types of actual and formal var parameters must be identical.

Hi
I have developed an iOS mobile App with push notifications using Rad Studio Delphi 10. However the notifications received on the tested iPhone were not popped on the screen, but listed in the Notification Centre. I know that there is a setting for individual App to show notifications in Notification Centre or not in iOS. But is there a way in Delphi / Rad Studio to set the notifications of the App not show in Notification Centre?

Hi,
I'm executing an app (android) in Delphi Berlim and getting "access violation" on the savetofile method of TFDMemTable. It works fine on Seattle but crashes on Berlim. If a change to a ClientDataSet all works fine! Code above:

I am using Delphi RAD XE3. When I try and build a ADO connection string I cannot find the Ora OLE DB Provider definition.
The ORACLE driver is installed. How does the IDE load the Providers in order for this utility to use the ORACLE Driver?

Delphi 10 Seattle refresh/flash every 20-30 second - by: Scott A11564

Recently my IDE began to refresh every 20-30 seconds. The tool bars blank out, the Editor panel blanks out, and various other elements flash for about 3 seconds interrupting whatever I'm doing and then it's done until the next interval. Any idea what would cause this?

Hello,
I use live templates that completes the command with the space bar.
I created a new live template, but it does not work with space bar. It works only with Ctrl-J.
How can I make it working with the space bar ?

Good Afternoon All,
We are getting ready to deploy Embarcadero Data Architect 16.0.2. I looked on Embarcadero's website and see nothing that acts as a deployment or admin guide. The install is a 314 mb single file executable. We deploy software with sccm. There are two license files also which need to be copied over to Program Data\Embarcadero. I ran the install and saw what seems to be a single .msi file which ways in at about 750mb. I would much rather deploy the msi file via sccm as that would also make adding the license files as simple as writing an .mst. When I ran the .msi, which is called erdamsi.msi it runs through to a point where I get the following message:

Could not write value CollectUsageStatistics to key \Software\Embarcadero\ER/Studio Data Architect 16.0\Tools. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Choices Cancel, Retry, Ignore

Cancel rolls back, retry does nothing, and ignore (not sure yet) and yes I am running under admin credentials
Ran erdamsi. from elevated command prompt (as a test) using msiexec /i erdamsi.msi /qb!

Post subsidiary repaired Getac rugged notebooks
DHL Supply Chain is responsible for service for notebooks from Getac . The subsidiary of Deutsche Post brings the devices not only from, but also has its own workshop to repair defective Notebooks.
Getac not even repaired his notebooks, but leaves the partners. In the future, defective products will be taken to a workshop of a German-Austrian Post subsidiary and repaired there and tested. The company DHL Supply Chain now has the change announced . The five-year contract covers the whole of Europe. Defective devices are brought to Brussels and published there by employees of DHL Supply Chain for use again.

Getac can reduce by outsourcing the work at DHL Supply Chain, the repair time to 72 hours from formerly 96 hours. Since six months, the devices are partially repaired there. In the course of the contract Getac will reduce the contracts with local service providers. In addition, resource consumption should be reduced by the central delivery of the workshop at the Brussels airport. Although the workshop is at the airport, the transportation of the notebook is done mainly on the road.

On average, DHL Supply Chain repaired somewhere between 200 and 300 notebooks per month. Getac is a relatively small supplier of notebooks, tablets and smartphones. The units are very robust and intended for outdoor use. The company competes mainly with Panasonic Toughbook division and in parts with Dell.

Delphi 10 Seattle Starter and previous versions that I have used do not display anything in the Structure Panel. It's just blank no matter what I do. Am I missing something?

Add namespace to xml with XMLDataBinding wizard - by: Jan B11652

I have a xml document created with the XMLDataBinding wizard. Some of the xml nodes, requires that I use a [url=http://.../]namespace[/url] in the tag or the clients system will not accept the xml. Not all of the tags require this. I don' t see anywhere in the XMLDadtaBinding tool where this can be done, when creating the class. How would I add this to the tags that require it, in the XMLDataBinding process or in the code? I am using Delphi 2010.

'getcwd()' gives path appended with 'Debug' - by: avelec

I'm creating my first project using C++ Builder 2009 Professional. When I obtain the current working directory using 'getcwd(' I get the pathway with the word 'Debug' appended to it. If I strip off the 'Debug' so that the pathway appears correct , save it to disk and then open the file and read the contents I find that the pathway has again got 'Debug' appended to it. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

I have transfered my small project from previous version Builder C++ to 10.1 Berlin and I got the unresolved external error. According to advice I have changed the TMessage to the TMessageBase.
The bellow mentioned code works as Win32 but doesn't work as Win64.
Error:

Good day!
Can you suggest a workaround or any help with this?
I am currently performing Repeating Rows in Microsoft Excel using Variant.OleFunction("Find", );
I am also using Builder XE for development.
However,
When is written in R1C1 and cells in Microsoft Excel is vertically merged,Variant.OleFunction("Find", ); returns NULL
Also,
When FREPEATROW is written in R1C1 and cells in Microsoft Excel is vertically merged,Variant.OleFunction("Find", ); returns OK.
When FREPEATROW is written in R1C1 and cells in Microsoft Excel is horizontally merged,Variant.OleFunction("Find", ); returns OK.
When FREPEATROW is written in R1C1 and cells in Microsoft Excel is not merged,Variant.OleFunction("Find", ); returns OK.
This behavior of FREPEATROW is the same with C++ Builder 2007, XE, XE2 and XE3.
